NEU CÖLN 2026
November 4–8, 2026
Heilig Kreuz Kloster
Lindenstraße 45
50674 Cologne, Germany
NEU CÖLN is an independent, interdisciplinary festival bringing together contemporary art, literature, music and discourse.
Conceived as a space for encounters across artistic disciplines, the festival combines an exhibition with performances, concerts, readings, talks and screenings. NEU CÖLN aims to create a setting for intellectual exchange, shared experiences and new connections between artists, audiences and different cultural communities.
The second edition takes place from November 5–8, 2026, coinciding with Art Cologne, at the former Heilig Kreuz Monastery in central Cologne. An opening reception will be held on Wednesday, November 4.
THE VENUE
The former Heilig Kreuz Monastery was built for the Dominican Order, with its foundation stone laid in 1902. Its last major renovation was completed in 2002. Today, the deconsecrated complex encompasses more than 1,400 square metres, including a large main hall, former residential quarters and a vaulted basement with a historic crypt.
For NEU CÖLN 2026, the monastery becomes a temporary space for contemporary artistic practice and exchange. Sculptures and installations occupy the exhibition spaces, while performances and live events unfold throughout the festival.
Lectures, readings, talks and screenings extend the programme into literature, philosophy and art theory. Concerts, a bar and a lounge provide further opportunities to meet, listen and spend time together.
